Neighborly Love

I cannot believe it is already May. It is said that April showers bring May flowers and we certainly saw our share of rain in April. Everything is budding and blooming so May has already answered its promise of flowers.

Our country needs love to bloom everywhere, cultivated by showers of kindness and compassion for one another. Love should be our default attitude toward others, not judgment, anger, or hate. It seems that hatred and anger are prevailing. We need to reverse that.

God tells us to love our neighbor in the same way that we love ourselves. That is a tall order! Some neighbors are easier to love than others, but how many do I love in the way that I love myself? He didn’t tell us to love our lovable neighbor. He said to love our neighbor, without specificity. So let’s spread that love for our neighbors!

Galatians 5:14 (NLT) - For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
