Shaken

Have you experienced events in your life that shook you to your core? I have had a number of those and they are not a joy at the time of their occurrence. Though they are not related they had a profound impact on my life. I will share three of them with you.

Chronologically, the first one I will share is when I did not get the critical promotion I needed to extend my military career. The next event was when my mother died, way too early, from a short battle with cancer. The last one is when I learned that I had a brain tumor.

While my world was shaken through each of these events God came through in powerful ways to use each of these events to build me up and reshape my life for the good. Although my military career was cut short, God gave me a new career that I loved so much. My military time enhanced my ability to be hired and my service time was not lost as I was able to add my military time to my government time and apply it to my retirement. Losing my mother gave me a much deeper appreciation of her life and ministry to others. She is still an inspiration to me today. The tumor turned out to be benign but it changed my perspective and focus on what is truly important in my life. Let God use the shakings in your life to help you grow!

Acts 4:31 (NLT) - “After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.”
