Wildfires in Canada are in the news today. Smoke from all these fires has spread south into the northern United States. It only takes a spark to ignite a flame that becomes a raging fire, consuming everything in its path.
I know people who are sparks. They light up the room when they enter, spreading cheer and warmth to everyone. Their personality is pleasing and infectious. The opposite can also be true of someone who spreads doom and gloom. They put a damper on any gathering they join.
God calls us to be a light shining in the darkness. This means that we should light up a room because we have the love of Christ flowing to us and through us. Don’t be like Pigpen from Peanuts and walk around with a dark cloud following you everywhere you go. Ignite the spark of the love of God and spread it like a wildfire.
Proverbs 16:27 (NLT) - “Scoundrels create trouble; their words are a destructive blaze.”
