Imagine a world where no one was selfish or tried to impress others. What would it look like if we were all humble and thought of others as better than ourselves. I’m not talking about putting ourselves down, just simply lifting others up and putting them first. And what if they didn’t take advantage of us for doing that? It would be a whole different world for sure.
It is certainly the kind of world that God created and the principle that he wants us to follow. As a whole, we are too busy puffing ourselves up and putting others down. This makes us feel better about ourselves and takes others down a notch or three. That is definitely not God’s plan.
Share God’s love with others. Build others up and do not tear them down. Look for the good in people instead of criticizing them for their faults. You will be amazed at how much a person’s whole day can be changed by a few kind or complimentary words. Try that with your spouse, too!
Don’t let it be your motive, but if you exalt others, you will be exalted. But above all else, exalt God!
Philippians 2:3 (NLT) - “Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.”
