Treat people in the same way that you want them to treat you. Now that is a novel concept! The Golden Rule can be quoted by just about anybody and is pretty much universally accepted. We would all agree that it is a principle we should all live by. But I am absolutely certain that we have all treated others in ways that we would never want to be treated!
Most of us practice “doing unto others before they do unto us”, which is quite the opposite of the Golden Rule. We are afraid that, if we treat someone with kindness, they will take advantage of us. Jesus even said that “If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them!” (Luke 6:32 - NLT).
So, even if they don’t treat you the same way, treat others the way you want to be treated. Then your reward from heaven will be very great and you will be acting as a child of God. Show the same compassion that your Father is showing to you. If we all did this, we would change the world!
