Lane Changers & Gap Fillers

Good ol’ Los Angeles traffic! I am not going to miss it one bit. That is one thing that is constantly on my mind as I (hopefully) wind down the remaining days of my years of commuting. I am occasionally amused and often annoyed by the drivers that weave in and out of lanes just to get ahead on the heavily congested freeways.

I can feel the stress and tension in their bodies as they bumper lock the car in front of them and squeeze into the gap between two cars in the next lane. Safe driving distance? What’s that? It doesn’t apply to them. The road belongs to them and they are the only one that matters because their destination is the only one that’s important. I pick one lane and watch as they weave in and out, back and forth, often gaining little or no advantage in the heaviest traffic areas.

Then there are the annoying after market headlights that some people have. They are like little chunks of fireballs from the sun that they stuck into their grill that sear your eyeballs until smoke comes out. I don’t know how they are allowed on the road with them or why they even have them. Don’t get me started on fog lights! My first question is… why would you want to use your fog lamps on a clear night? We can all see just fine with our regular dim headlights. We don’t need your stadium lights that blind us all. Recently, I have been seeing these light bars that run from headlight to headlight and are about 12 inches tall that could light up a landing strip at an airport. My only question is… why? There is no way these could be legal.

There is so much I will miss here because this has been home for so long, but I can’t wait to say goodbye to the LA traffic. I guess my spiritual application for today would simply be the Golden Rule!

Luke 6:31 (NLT) - “Do to others as you would like them to do to you.”

Go For It!

Amen!
