There can be if you want to dwell on the built-in pressure of putting together all the feasts and festivities.. The host family, of course, always gets stressed in trying to keep the house perfect while the kids and, sometimes, guests, naturally clutter the homes they have worked so hard to clean for the event. For the guests, it’s trying to live out of a suitcase and keep your clutter down and adapt to the host family’s rules without exactly knowing what those rules are.
But setting all that aside, nothing compares to the overwhelming joy of spending time with family and/or friends during the holidays. The stories told, the laughter shared, the hugs given, and most of all for me…. kisses from grandchildren! I love reunions with family and friends that I haven’t seen in a long time and getting to spend time with them, without the interruption of work or the daily grind that comes with my commute. There is nothing more satisfying to me than being with the people I love the most!
So, I would say, “No, there really isn’t a downside to the holidays!”
Deuteronomy 12:7 (NLT) - “There you and your families will feast in the presence of the LORD your God, and you will rejoice in all you have accomplished because the LORD your God has blessed you.”
