I get to sit back and watch my adult children deal with all the discipline and any other negative aspects that come with parenting, while I swoop in and spoil their children. It’s my job, you know! Being a granddaddy is so much fun. In many ways, it’s so much more enjoyable than being a parent. I love to joke with my kids that, if I knew being a grandparent was so much fun, I would’ve had the grandkids first!
There is an unwritten law somewhere that says “Grandparents may spoil their grandchildren and break all of the parental rules they raised their own children with before returning them to the parents.” That is what gives us such joy. And we get to make annoying statements like, “You’re paying for your raising!” My parents did this to me, so I will get even by doing this to my children. It’s only fair, right?
So, this holiday season, I will love and enjoy my children, spoil my grandchildren, and visit old friends. Merry Christmas everyone and may God bless you with a wonderful time and a prosperous new year!
Proverbs 17:6 (NLT) - “Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.”
