In the Spotlight

We all crave positive recognition whenever we do something right or finish a task well. It is natural to want a parent or a boss to give us appropriate recognition for a job well done, especially in front of our siblings or peers. That time in the spotlight can be uplifting and joyful.

What about when we have done something wrong or shameful? It is quite the opposite. We do not want to be in the spotlight then. We want to cower somewhere in the background or in the darkness where no one can see us, especially a parent or supervisor or even God.

The light exposes all of our flaws and draws attention to us. But at the same time, it allows us to correct those areas that need it and make the improvements necessary to prevent future mistakes. The darkness may hide us from immediate exposure but the light will eventually find us and show us as we truly are.

Allow the light into your life and expose the bad things that are holding you back from what God intends for you.

John 3:20 (NLT) - "All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed."
