Living Right

I suppose if I asked 100 people what it means to "live right" I would get 100 different answers. There would certainly be some crossover but I doubt if any two people would say the exact same thing. We all have different circumstances, jobs, influences, and perspectives that shape how we live and the choices we make, but whether we live right or not really does come down to the choices we make.

Paul told Timothy to "run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts." We usually associate lust with sexual sin, but that could also be a warning to flee from anything that produces evil thoughts or temptations that are difficult to resist. In order to live right we have to avoid the things that cause us to stumble and fall.

How do we do that? We have to remove ourselves from any situation that stimulates our desire to sin. Instead, we need to pursue those things that are pure and right. Running away from a temptation is not a cowardly act... it is the wisest thing we can do!

2 Timothy 2:22 (NLT) - "Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts."
