Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That is never more evident than when watching a child mimic the actions of their parent. I remember one time standing outside talking with someone. I was casually leaning against a door frame with my arms crossed and one leg in front of the other as I talked to a neighbor. During the conversation, I looked down and noticed that my son was looking up at me and standing in the exact same pose.
In my first published blog, I posted a picture of my son-in-law and grandson mowing their lawn together... the father with his real mower and the son with a toy mower. My grandson was imitating his father. Children want to be like their heroes and the people they look up to. They want to please the objects of their admiration!
God wants the same thing for us. If we imitate him as we follow the example of Christ, he will be pleased with us. Our goal should be to please our Heavenly Father.
Ephesians 5:1 (NLT) - "Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children."
