My Sports Fan

Today is my middle one’s birthday, my baby girl. She’s not a baby anymore though… she has her own babies. They’re not babies anymore either! I have two daughters and a son, but this is her birthday, so I’ll honor her today. She has always had a very quiet, sweet, and pleasant personality, unless she got upset. You can ask her aunt about losing her favorite toy in the shopping mall one day. But I would say that is a rare departure from her normal demeanor.

Although my son likes sports, she is my biggest sports fan when it comes to sitting down and watching our favorite teams play. We buy each other the jerseys and caps and, if we’re not together, keep each other updated on players, scores, and standings. We used to joke about how lucky her future husband would be to marry a ready-made sports fan. She had to win him over to watching sports!

She has always been a daddy’s girl. It was so much fun raising this cute, precious, beautiful, and adorable, little girl that grew into an amazing and beautiful woman, mother, and wife. She is brilliant and can do anything that she sets her mind to, whether it’s working for a big company or using her artistic talents to create beautiful cakes, crafts, or decor of various kinds. I’m getting into bragging now, but I’m very proud of my birthday girl.

Just as I love to talk about and brag on my kids, God loves us and wants to brag on us. Do the things that he loves and give him reasons to! Obedience to his Word is better than sacrifice. My daughters always tell us that the worse punishment, in their minds, was to disappoint us. That should be our attitude with God. Live your life to please him. He wants to brag on you!

I’m so pleased with my birthday girl. She has been a joy and delight to her father’s heart. I send her all my love and wish her the happiest of birthdays!

Proverbs 23:24 (NLT) - “The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.”
