My Son

My son’s birthday is today. He is my youngest and I cannot believe he is 29 years old! I only have one son and I see so much of myself in him. I beam with pride when I look at him and see all that he has accomplished. He has become well known in my small home town because of his work, so when I return home for a visit I often run into people that know him. Every single one, as soon as they realize that he is my son, light up and tell me what a wonderful young man he is. They go on to say how polite and hard working he is and that he has such a great personality. I never hear a negative remark about him.

The years of raising him flew by way too fast and, as with most boys, weren’t always easy, but they were unbelievably awesome. I wouldn’t trade those days for the world. I think every parent would wish they could go back and do some things differently and I am no exception. I would give anything to have had more one on one time to spend with him then… and now. He is such a joy and delight and I cherish my time spent with him.

When I think of how deeply I love my one and only son, I cannot help but think of how much the Father loves us. I cannot imagine how he could possibly have sent his one and only Son as a sacrifice for our sins. The one who never sinned took the place of all of us sinners. There is no greater love than that!

I want to wish my son, that I love with all my heart, the happiest of birthdays today!

John 3:16 (NLT) - “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
