Did anyone you know immediately come to mind when you read the title of this blog? We all know people who give freely, whether it's their time, money, or resources. There are some common traits among those types of people. They tend to be happier people that, more often than not, seem to have a smile on their face. They are a joy to be around and make you feel better for having been around them.
The Bible tells us that those that give to others will prosper and be blessed and become more wealthy. We usually think of that in monetary terms, but that can come in many forms. Have you given something to someone in a time of need and seen the joy or relief on their face? Remember how that made you feel, even though that was not why you gave?
As long as your intentions and motives are pure in your giving and it is without expectation of receiving something in return, you place yourself in a position to be able to receive back what you did not ask for. On the other hand, if we hoard everything then we are positioning ourselves for disaster. Freely you received from God, so freely you should give!
Proverbs 11:24 (NLT) - "Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything."
