Because I Can

I caught myself hobbling around the house this morning without the use of a cane, crutches, or knee brace. Why would I do such a stupid thing, you might ask of me? “Because I can!” would of course be my foolish, off the cuff answer.

I didn’t hurt or injure myself, that I am aware of, by doing so. When I thought about it for a minute as I was going through my morning routine of getting ready for church, I decided that it was wise for me to strap on the knee brace and use the cane.

God gives us tools, or people, in our lives to assist us in carrying out the assignments he gives us. Quite often, we trudge forward and do things on our own because “If you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself!” Or simply, “Because I can!”

You are robbing others of their calling and their ministry and crippling your own when you choose to step out without all your support. Use everything that God has made available to you so that you will be whole and healthy in carrying out his plan for your life and calling.

Ephesians 6:13 (NLT) - “Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”
