Vacations or business trips to nice locations are always wonderful, but there is never any place that compares to being home. It is even more special when you aren’t feeling your best. It is a place of peace, comfort, and rest when you need it the most. Like the old saying, “Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home.”
We live in a house, but home is your shelter and sanctuary, and a quiet place for your family and you. You can relax and unwind from all the day’s stresses and anxieties. It should be a place where peace rests on all who enter. Pray over your home and be a good steward with the gift God has blessed you with.
In the same way that you guard and protect your home, you should guard and protect your heart. Do not allow anything in that could harm you or affect your relationship with God. We sometimes allow ourselves to participate in activities or watch certain things that penetrate our minds and clutter up our hearts with junk that doesn’t need to be in there. Once you see something, you cannot unsee it and once you do something, you cannot undo it.
Just as you don’t want to have clutter in your house, keep your mind and your heart pure so they are not cluttered with sinful things. Then you will be able to live your life filled with peace and joy in the Lord.
Romans 14:17 (NLT) - “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
