Be Prepared

Continuing with my Scouting theme from yesterday, the Scout Motto is “Be Prepared”. That motto applies to so many areas of our life. We need to always be in a constant state of preparation for both things known and things unknown.

One of my greatest fears was speaking in front of a group of people. The larger the group the greater the fear. I would prepare for days to get ready for that brief moment in time. Most of my time and energy was focused on that event and I made sure that I was ready to give my best efforts for that presentation.

Each morning we prepare to go to work or school. Some of us have developed daily routines that help us in that preparation. It becomes automatic and we are thrown off when something interrupts that routine. But we put careful thought into each step of that routine because it works for us.

We all need to prepare for the most important event of our lives. That event is our death or the return of our Lord and Savior, whichever comes first. Where will you spend eternity? That is the single biggest thing that we need to prepare for. If you are prepared to spend eternity with Jesus, then you can live in peace, freedom, and joy. Be prepared!

1 Corinthians 15:52 (NLT) - “It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.”
