We pay bundles of money for insurance and hope we never need it. It gives us peace of mind knowing that, if something bad happens, we will have money available to cover the expenses to pay for that occurrence. Of course, with the increasing costs of insurance, we often choose to pay higher deductibles so we don’t have to pay as much out of pocket each month for our premiums. So we stress a lot over spending so much to have that peace of mind and hope we never need that insurance!
Salvation is our peace of mind that we will spend eternity in Heaven with Jesus. Some joke that it is our fire insurance that we will not spend eternity in hell, but it really is no joke. Nor should salvation be thought of as fire insurance! It is a joy and honor to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior and to be a child of God. It costs us nothing. All we have to do is ask and receive. Salvation is a free gift from our loving Father.
John 3:16 (NLT) - “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
