Do you want God to delight in you? Then follow him, trust him, and try your best to do his will. If you do that, then God will watch over you and make every step you take firm and on solid ground. This reminds me of the time I spent in the Marine Corps. Anyone that has spent hours on the grinder practicing military drills will appreciate this.
A military unit marches in time or in step with one another. Your steps are ordered or directed by the unit commander as he calls out the cadence. When you plant your feet firmly and with precision, the commander takes great delight in the unit as it marches as one. When we march to our own beat, we are out of step with the others and out of favor with him. There are certainly consequences to be dealt with!
The same is true with God. He orders and directs our steps. He guides us in the way we should go. He truly delights in every detail of our lives. When we depart from his ways there are consequences to our actions. Stay in step with him by listening to his voice and following his commands. He will take great delight in you!
Psalms 37:23 (NLT) - “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”
