The Bible makes it crystal clear that our real battle is in the spiritual realm, not against flesh and blood. In the sixth chapter of the book of Ephesians, verses 13 through 17 tell us about putting on every piece of God’s armor so that we will stand firm after the battle with the enemy.
You can read about the details of each piece of armor, but in summary, his armor is truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and his Word. So, he tells us that if we are equipped with these things, we will defeat the enemy in each and every battle.
God’s Word is true and it sets us free. It keeps our conscience clear. Righteousness is right-standing with God. Peace comes through resting in the promises of God and believing that he will do what he says. Faith is total trust and reliance on God. If you are saved, you have already won the war, not just the battle. His Word is described as the sword, which is not only a defensive weapon, but a weapon that can be used to take the fight to the enemy!
He goes on to tell us to pray at all times on every occasion and to stay alert. Be persistent in your prayers and stand firm. Put on the whole armor of God, resist the devil, and he will flee!
Ephesians 6:13 (NLT) - “Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”
