My Valentine

My beautiful wife has been my Valentine for 40 years now (counting the Valentines Day four months before our wedding)! I have obviously found my forever Valentine and I could not be any happier with my choice. God put us together and no one can ever separate us! We are quite mushy when it comes to talking about our relationship. I love to say things like “I love you more than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow.”

Just like in my relationship with God, at first our love was based on feelings and emotions because we had not come to know each other deeply and intimately. That comes with time and an investment into the relationship.

Everyone goes through a “honeymoon” period where you only look at the shiny, outward surface things and thrive on the excitement and newness of it all. Then, as you discover the depth of one another’s full personality and expose all the strengths and weaknesses, you realize that there are flaws in your perceptions about the other as they discover yours.

My wife and I are well beyond the “puppy love” years and our love has grown stronger and deeper. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. We capitalize on them instead of taking advantage of them so we can build each other up. We are united and not divided. We are a three-stranded cord (the first strand, of course, is God), so we are strong.

I am incredibly thankful for my forever Valentine and I extend my wish for the happiest of Valentines Days to her and to all of my readers as well. And may God bless you all!

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NLT) - “A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”
