Freedom in Christ

Freedom in Christ is freedom from sin, not freedom to sin. We often get that confused because of God’s bountiful grace to forgive us of our sins. We use that as an excuse to keep sinning or to commit that sin that we don’t want to let go of since we know that he will forgive us. That is dangerous ground to tread on and it is the opposite of a repentant heart.

Let go of that sin, repent of it, and flee from it. Only then will you be free from it and no longer under its power. If you knowingly and willfully continue to sin then you are not free at all and you are moving yourself out from under the umbrella of God’s blessing. Where there is freedom, there is joy and blessing.

Romans 6:16 (NLT) - “Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.”
