I wasn’t sure how it would work out, trying to focus and concentrate on work from our lake house. I have to admit, it can be a distraction, with the lake, trees, and all the natural beauty around me. I solved that, mostly, by working with my back to the window. It’s only for a couple of weeks, but I could get used to this!
Then there’s the wonderful distraction of grandkids. There is absolutely nothing I can do about that or that I want to do about it. My face lights up each time they walk into the room. The sound of “Granddaddy” coming from their sweet voices is the most precious sound in the world.
There is a lot of responsibility that comes with the admiration a grandchild has for their grandparents. When I’m working or busy, it’s too easy to ignore or shrug off their attention. I make it a point to stop and make eye contact, acknowledge their presence, and take a little time to speak with them. Sometimes work will just have to wait. I’m a granddaddy!
