I was told today that I need to go “in” to my office on Monday for two special projects that require my physical presence. These cannot be worked remotely from home! Are you kidding me? I actually have to commute to Los Angeles, go into my computer lab, and work from there for a few hours? I’m actually a little freaked out over this!
I have to pass through a security check, answer a myriad of health questions, wear my mask, and practice social distancing from any other essential workers within the building. I envision returning to my lab and walking through cobwebs to get to my dusty chair and desk. I’ll work as quickly as possible so I can get out and return to the sanctuary of my home lab.
I have become accustomed to not having the long commute, which cuts down, significantly, the amount of hours I’m away from home. Work and commute-related stress are gone, so this new task on Monday makes me afraid that I may soon have to return to the office. Thank God that it is all under His control and I don’t have to bear the burden alone. I can cast all my cares on Him because He cares for me… and you!
1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) - “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
