Joy in Preparation

I remember the excitement of going on summer vacation as a child. It most often entailed loading up our old Rambler station wagon and heading off to Houston to be with our aunts, uncles, and cousins. There was so much joy in the days leading up to the trip and making all the preparations.

We are currently making preparations for our move and, although there is a lot of stress and mixed feelings involved, there is so much joy in the anticipation of what awaits us on the other end. Obviously, the destination is the best part of the whole deal, but there’s a lot of fun in getting ready in knowing what lies ahead.

For Christians, we know that heaven awaits us at the end of our days, whether through death or the Lord’s return. If you are prepared, there is great joy in the anticipation of eternal life with God. If not, then fear and uncertainty is certain to occupy your mind and thoughts. Always be prepared for whenever He calls you home. There is joy in the preparation and great reward in the destination!

Psalms 40:16 (NLT) - “But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “The Lord is great!””
