Endurance

I don’t want to brag but I am an awesome runner, even at my current age of 65! The only problem I have with my running is that I can only go a hundred yards or so. At least I assume that since I haven’t tried it in a long time. The reason I can only run a short distance is because I don’t have the endurance to go any further.

When I was a runner in my younger years I consistently ran between three to six miles a day four to six days per week. I had the endurance to run those distances. Did I just decide one day to run three to six miles? No! I had to build up my endurance by starting with shorter runs and gradually adding miles to my routine until my endurance increased. It is a continual process with specific goals in mind.

My walk with God is a lot like that. When I first began I knew so little about him. Years of exercising my faith and a growing desire to draw closer to him has grown my relationship with him. I must endure the race to gain the heavenly prize that awaits me at the finish line!

2 Timothy 4:7 (NLT) - “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.”
