Kerplunk

I alluded to this incident in yesterday’s blog, but think about three or maybe four large dogs sprinting across the dog park together. Now imagine this canine mass jockeying for position and trying to playfully knock one of the others out of the way as they rush along at blinding speed. It is hilarious to watch!

The key word is watch. Now imagine, if you will, walking across the dog park, oblivious to the fast approaching locomotive barreling right at you, and then suddenly WHAM! The dogs meet my wife’s lower legs, the wife goes airborne, and KERPLUNK. Or maybe it was a thud or a bam or a boom. Anyway, that is when she landed hard on her right hip, prompting a visit to urgent care. Thankfully she came away with no fractures. She is down but not out.

We love these dogs… and still do. They were just doing exactly what we take them to the dog park to do. The analogy I want to draw is that the enemy attacks us when we are not watching. When we least expect it, he comes charging in and catches us from the blind side. When that happens we need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and keep going forward. God is there to heal us and help us.

Psalms 91:9-12 (NLT) - “If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.”
