Looking Back

This weekend I am staying with some high school classmates at a rental house on a lake in Hot Springs, Arkansas. We met with other classmates at a local restaurant last night for an informal gathering. The official class reunion is tonight where a larger group will get together.

The part I love most about reunions is reliving old stories, catching up on each other’s lives, and making new memories. In thinking back to my high school years I realize how complicated I thought life was at the time. Today it all seems like it was a simpler time. We have laughed so hard in recalling stupid stuff we did as teenagers and are amazed that we all survived. Although I wasn’t close with all of my classmates growing up, we are united by the bond of growing up together and being fellow graduates.

God calls us to dwell together in unity. In today’s society that seems to be hard to do, but it shouldn’t be. Life is too short to get caught up in petty things that really don’t matter in the long haul. Follow God’s direction, love and pray for one another, and live in unity.

Psalms 133:1 (NLT) - “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!”
