Separation

There is a saying that absence makes the heart grow fonder. There is a lot of truth to that and my wife and I have grown quite fond of each other these past few months. We live two hours away from my 97-year-old father. He is doing amazingly well, but my brother and I tag team staying with him each night. I have the weekdays and my brother has the weekends.

That is a lot of time to be separated from the love of my life, but it is a sacrifice that we both agree has to be made. These are special times and moments with my father that I could never get back. I would rather him be with family instead of alone or with strangers during this time of his life. However, the pain of separation is real and, while I long for a return to normalcy, I do not like to think about the circumstance that would allow for that.

There is a separation that I never want to experience. Separation from God would be the most tragic of all. Remain in Him and He will remain in you. Wherever you go He is with you. Nothing will ever separate us from His love. I take great comfort in this!

Romans 8:38-39 (NLT) - “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
