Warfare

Jack Holder, the last living survivor of the USS Arizona, died in February at the age of 101. Holder witnessed the horror, death and destruction that occurred during the attack against Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He went on to fight in the battle of Midway and flew missions over Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands before being honorably discharged in 1948. He was truly an iron man!

I brought up his story because I came across an article today about him and it touched my heart. All of our men and women who serve in the military do so knowing that they are putting themselves in a dangerous profession. I served in the Marine Corps for over 12 years and was blessed to never be in combat, but I trained and prepared for it continually. My heart is forever intertwined with my fellow veterans and my love for God and country is unwavering.

God calls us to be mighty warriors for Him. The weapons of our warfare are spiritual in nature. We assault the enemy through prayer, fasting, and the Word of God. We are members of God’s army and it’s time to fight the good fight of faith and restore our great nation to its love for and dependence upon God. We are one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all!

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NLT) - “We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”
