Spending time with my father involves sitting in front of his television, exposing me to way too many commercials. The advertisers count on the gullibility of viewers to believe in whatever they are selling. While the most effective ones are quite convincing I find most of them insulting to our intelligence.
A few years ago I was sitting with a group of coworkers at a luncheon and we were having a discussion on how gullible some people are. Our secretary spoke up and confessed that she was one of the most gullible people on the planet. Immediately I looked at her and said, “Did you know that Webster actually took the word gullible out of the dictionary?” She looked at me in surprise and replied, “Really? Why?!”
We are all gullible when it comes to the lies that the devil tells us. When we get down on ourselves and beat ourselves up we are believing those lies. God created us and has a plan for us. He loves us regardless of what the enemy is whispering in our ears. Know the truth and allow it to set you free. Don’t be gullible!
John 8:32 (NLT) - “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
