I heard the pop when the rock bounced off my windshield. It took a few moments for me to even see where it hit but there it was. It was just a tiny spot… a small blemish on my large windshield. It remained the same for several months and only slightly annoyed me because I knew it was there.
Suddenly, less than a week ago, it began to grow. Tentacles sprouted out and spread across half the windshield. The tiny spot that I had ignored for so long could have been repaired cheaply and easily. My costly inaction required me to have to replace the entire windshield.
That is much like allowing sin in my life. If I know it’s there and don’t do anything about it I am setting myself up for a more costly consequence. Invite the Lord to search and clean your heart. Remove those things that displease him. Take care of any spots so they don’t grow and spread into other areas of your life.
Psalms 51:10 (NLT) - “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.”
