Wholeness

I’m still in the middle of my physical therapy on my knee and I have learned a lot about my body during this whole process. I thought I would go in and work on just rehabilitating my knee, with all of the exercises and stretches being focused on just the knee. I was totally wrong on that count!

My physical therapist has been running me through a series of stretches for all different areas of my body, from my neck down to my toes. It amazes me how much everything can be affected by one injury. He explained the domino effect of how we compensate using other parts of our body to make up for the injured body part. This has the negative effect on the alignment of your muscles, tissues, bones, etc. when you do that.

I almost have my normal walk, or stride, back now. The right knee is still weak though, and it feels like it could go out from under me without warning. It has come close to that several times already, causing me to catch myself before I fall. I have to continue to rehabilitate it and build up the tendons, ligaments, and other parts that I cannot name, until I can trust the knee to function normally.

As members of the body of Christ, we must work together so that when one member is hurting we can build them up to return them to normal. If we don’t restore them then the rest of the body is compensating for the hurting member and we are all affected. The body is then out of alignment and not functioning as it should. Let’s look after one another and maintain a healthy body!

1 Corinthians 12:12 (NLT) - “The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.”
