You Are Responsible For Your Reputation

A reputation, whether good or bad, is earned. The only one responsible for it is you. Others may try to slander you or tear down your reputation, but you are ultimately responsible for it. The way you respond to criticism, whether deserved or not, goes to your reputation.

Social media is a huge influence on our reputation today. Think about the posts that you see out there, or even your own, and you will make your own determination about the reputation of each person you “meet” on that particular platform. This person is funny, that person is nice, he is a bully, she is just mean! You have seen all types and personalities out there.

It is the same thing in person. Your face and your voice give away clues as to what your personality and demeanor are like. Spending time with someone is the best way to get to know their true reputation. Either way, we certainly all want to develop and maintain a good reputation because, as they say, it precedes you wherever you go!

Proverbs 27:19 (NLT) - “As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.”
