This evening one of my daughters and two of my grandkids will be arriving for a 10-day visit and I couldn't be more excited! We've been there to see them numerous times, but it's their first trip here since they moved to Texas a few years ago.
My daughter sent us a video she shot this morning of her announcement to the kids that they were making the trip to California today. It's always hilarious to see the reactions and perspectives of young children.
They both began to name off different toys or electronic devices they wanted to bring. My 7-year old grandson wants to build robots with his (other) grandpa. My 3-year old granddaughter asked, "Are we ever coming back from California?" I cannot wait to see those two sillies... and their mother too, of course!
I wish my daily life contained the same excitement about spending time with God each day. That's certainly my goal, but I confess that I'm not always so enthusiastic. Sometimes I let my daily devotionals become routine or monotonous. It should never be that way, but that's the reality of my life.
We should be excited about prayer time and devotion time, or any time, spent with God. Just like the excitement my grandchildren displayed about spending time with us.
Luke 18:16 (NLT) - Then Jesus called for the children and said to the disciples, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children."
