I don’t know where it originated, but we’ve all heard people either joke or taunt, depending on the circumstance, “I taught you everything you know, but I didn’t teach you everything I know.” That really is how it is with the Word of God. Everything you need to know, for now, is in the Bible, but it doesn’t contain everything about God and all there is to know about him. That would be impossible.
The scriptures were given to us as the living, breathing, inspired Word of God. As we read it and devote ourselves to daily prayer and fellowship with him, we get to know him more and more. Our love and relationship with the Heavenly Father will grow deeper and stronger as we spend more time with him, but we will never know everything that he knows. He will give us all that we can handle and as much as we seek him for, if our hearts and intentions are pure and holy.
He promises that if you seek him, you will find him, if you seek him with all of your heart. Desire to know the God of the Bible, not a god that you have invented in your head, molded to your idea of what he should be like, and your thoughts of what is right or fair or just. We only see in part and know in part until the day that he chooses to reveal it all to his children. So, get to know God better by spending time in prayer, fellowship, and studying of his Word!
1 Corinthians 13:12 (NLT) - “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”
