Love and Babies

Love is by far my favorite emotion. It is much more fun to feel love than it is to feel anger or hatred, isn’t it? It is a lot healthier as well! We feel love for a lot of things… God, our spouses, children, grandchildren, friends, chocolate… the list goes on and on. One of the things I particularly love is babies.

I was walking around before and after our church service yesterday and admiring several of the new babies some of the parents have been blessed with recently. I have always loved little babies… none more than my own of course! They are so cute, precious, innocent, and adorable. I love to play with them and, even though I know I sound silly, I enjoy talking baby talk and making funny sounds to try to make them smile or giggle.

When we were in our church in Louisiana, they called me the “Baby Man” because I was always holding everyone’s babies in church. The parents enjoyed the break and I loved holding them. They are so fascinating as their little eyes explore and try to focus on the world around them. I love how a baby will try to mirror any face you make or recreate any sound you make.

God wants us to have the same childlike love for him. Imagine being cradled in his arms and staring up into his face as he talks to you and teaches you things you need to know and learn. He protects you and would never allow anyone or anything to harm you. The love of the Father is the greatest love of all!

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT) - “Three things will last forever - faith, hope and love - and the greatest of these is love.”
