Today is a day for “man stuff.” I just left a Men’s Breakfast at my church and now I’m on the way to the Grand National Roadster Show with three of my friends. I’m sure we’ll be making grunting noises like Tim Taylor on Home Improvement as we drool over all the cars and hot rods.
I absolutely love my married life more than anything, but it is good for men to get together and fellowship. I am not, by nature, a car enthusiast, but I enjoy going with other guys to look at classic cars and roadsters. The laughter, conversations, and stories are what makes it so enjoyable. And, of course, we talk about “man stuff.”
Christian men should use this time to build one another up and share struggles as well as triumphs. It is a time for healing, consoling, and bonding. If non-Christians are in the group, it is a powerful opportunity to be a witness for Christ. Finally, it will also strength your marriage as you work out issues common to men in a safe, loving and trustworthy group of close friends.
