The Bible tells us that everything we could ever need has already been deposited inside us for abundant life. It is through knowing the one who called you by name, who has given you magnificent, priceless promises, that you can live a life of godliness and escape the corrupt desires of the world.
The first chapter of 2 Peter lists a set of virtues that have been planted deep within you to supplement your faith: goodness, understanding, self-control, patient endurance, godliness, mercy, and unending love. You possess these in an abundant supply and they will keep you from being inactive or fruitless in your pursuit of knowing Jesus more intimately.
If you want to live a great life and walk closer to Jesus, practice letting these virtues flow from you. You may find that some or all of these naturally flow from you. That is because God planted them deep within you and it is part of your nature because he, as your Creator, put them there. Let them rise up and become a part of who you are and what others see. You will not only bless others, but you will be blessed as well.
So, what are you looking for? Look no further than within yourself for what God has already placed inside of you. He has equipped you with everything you need to be a part of the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Messiah.
2 Peter 1:8-9 (TPT) - “Since these virtues are already planted deep within, and you possess them in abundant supply, they will keep you from being inactive or fruitless in your pursuit of knowing Jesus Christ more intimately. But if anyone lacks these things, he is blind, constantly closing his eyes to the mysteries of our faith, and forgetting his innocence - for his past sins have been washed away.”
