Organizing CDs

I spent many hours over several days organizing my old CD collection. They were once proudly displayed on several shelves in the family room, next to the stereo, where I could easily grab one from its case and play it. As my library grew my wife, the interior decorator, decided she wanted them moved to a closet.

With the advent of digital music and downloads, purchasing CDs has become antiquated and caused my music stash to be relegated to a large, heavy box stored away and almost forgotten. I can’t remember the last CD we purchased, but I can remember going from collecting vinyl to 8-tracks to cassettes and then to CDs. I thought, with each new technology, this will be the last!

Well, it was difficult to do, but for this project, I removed all the CDs from their original cases and put them all into one 400-capacity CD storage wallet. It’s amazing how so much music fits into such a small space. Of course, a much larger project would be to digitize my entire CD collection, but I think that is an unreasonable task to take on unless I plan to live to be 120 years old!
