Hating Your Own Sin

I want to hate my sins more than I hate the sins of others who sin differently than I do.

I saw this on an Instagram post. Let that sink in for a moment. Reread it if you need to. It was a “WOW!” moment for me. We know we are to hate the sin, but love the sinner. But what about hating our own sin? What a difference that would make in our own life!

Do you have a particular sin that you are holding on to, that has you in its grip, or that you keep asking for forgiveness for over and over again? Do you hate that sin or are you too busy hating the sins of others? It’s perfectly okay to hate all sin. I certainly do. And I admit that I will readily call out the sin of someone else while holding sins of my own.

Take care of your sins, confess them to God, repent of them, and ask for his forgiveness. Help others and lead them to Christ. He will deliver them from their sins as well. God hates sin, but he loves us and forgives us. He proved that by sending his one and only Son to die for our sins so that we wouldn’t have to. Tell others this Good News!
