Remember When

Remember the excitement of when you first met your spouse or your significant other? The excitement of pursuing them and wanting to please them and spend every moment with them made you be the best version of yourself that you could possibly be… at least when you were in their presence. Your heart pounded when you were with them and you hated to be apart from them.

That is often the first stages of a shallow form of love, but it was a fun part of your life and relationship. As time goes on and you got to know each other you discovered that things weren’t all shiny and rosy, but your love grew deeper and more meaningful. Don’t forget those earlier feelings and the fun of the pursuit and the desire to please. Recapture those moments and make them feel wanted and desired just like at the beginning.

Our relationship with God is much the same. When we are first introduced to Jesus, we are excited and want to do everything we can to please him and spend time with him. That often wanes with time and the realization that everything is not shiny and rosy. Our hearts are transformed, but our lives may not be perfected. It is a constant perfecting and renewal. We have to work to continual pursue him and continually seek him. Never let your love for God grow cold or stale. Remember when you first met him and seek him every day. Commit your heart to him daily!

Matthew 22:37 (NLT) - Jesus replied, “You must love the LORD you God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.”
