Summons

I recently received a summons to appear for jury duty. It was not a request to show up if I want to or feel like it. It is a requirement that I show up on a certain day at a certain time. There are steps that I have to take and forms I have to submit leading up to that appearance. Failure to follow instructions properly and appear on the correct day and time may subject me to a fine, incarceration or both, and I will still be required to perform jury service. Most citizens faithfully follow these instructions either out of faithful service to the community or simply from fear of the consequences of not obeying the summons.

God has summoned us to appear before him. He has called us to the Great Commission and sent us into all the world to share the Good News about Jesus. We show respect and reverence to God by cheerfully obeying him and honoring him in doing all that he says and following his instructions to the best of our abilities.

Answer his summons today and obey him with a thankful heart. Follow his instruction book, which of course, is the Bible. Let your love for him motivate you to want to please him each and every day.

Romans 12:1 (TPT) - “Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? I encourage you to surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship.”
