Valentines Day is huge for flower shops, chocolate factories, restaurants, and Hallmark. Men rush out to buy their significant others special gifts to impress their ladies and show that they care… or to stay out of trouble. Please don’t ask my wife what I got her or if I got her anything. For a lot of the traditional gift-giving holidays, we forego the traditions and make it about us and not the moneymakers. Occasionally, we will surprise each other and do the unexpected.
The thing I appreciate about Valentines Day is that it is a day we celebrate love. I tell my wife everyday that I love her, not because she expects to hear it or out of habit, but because it’s true. I knew over 40 years ago that I loved her and it’s still true today. Only now, that love is deeper and stronger than ever. I’ve never met a more loving, loyal, and selfless person in my life and she’s given me the most wonderful children in the world, who in turn, have given us the most amazing grandchildren.
I have only God to thank for orchestrating the whole framework of our lives to put all this beautiful tapestry together. We are blessed beyond belief. We have only just begun to grasp the joy that awaits us for the remainder of our time together here on earth and in eternity with Jesus. We are excited about our future with our children and grandchildren… all our Valentines… and we can’t wait for that chapter to begin. Show love to those around you and let it dominate your emotions. Happy Valentines Day!
