What Does the Lord Require of Me?

Have you ever asked God that question? Moses gave a summary that is simple and easy to remember. He said to fear God (have reverence for him), live according his will (not my will, but his will) love him, worship him with all your heart and soul (not just some, but all), and obey his commands (he gave them for our own good).

Throughout history, man has complicated this with man-made rules, regulations, and requirements. This has made it frustrating for non-Christians and driven people away from the church. In order for us to find true peace we must concentrate on his real requirements and not focus on all the man-made requirements. Concentrate on fearing God, living according to his will, loving and worshiping him wholeheartedly, and obeying all of his commands.

Lord, help me to understand that true, perfect fear of God so that I will live according to your will and love you and worship you with all that I am and all that I have. Help me to obey all of your commands, not just the ones that I want. I desire to do all that you require of me!

Deuteronomy 10:12-13 (NLT) - “And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the LORD your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.”
