This is an old Christian cliche, but it has a powerful meaning. Have you ever prayed about something for a long time and you felt strongly that your motives were right, but the answer just wasn’t coming the way you wanted it to? This has happened to me many times. Often, I try to manipulate the circumstances to turn out the way I want it to and force the outcome to meet my expectations. It almost never works out in those instances.
It’s only after I let go and trust God to open the right doors at the right time that the answers come in a new and better way than I could ever have imagined. Then I look back at the process and see exactly why God didn’t let it go my way. Sometimes my plans have to fail so his purpose for me will prevail. He always knows best!
Some day I will learn to apply this lesson to all of my prayers and completely trust him as I take everything to him and rest with the assurance that he has it all under control. Once I release control, all worry and anxiety will be gone. He is the God of peace and he fills us with such joy! So, let go and let God!
Colossians 3:15 (NLT) - “And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.”
