Simple Pleasures

You would have thought my wife hit the lottery today. She was so excited that her hard work at standing in the cold, in long lines, for several days this past week or so, finally paid off. She was able to purchase toilet paper! That is not something one would normally rejoice over, but we are so thrilled about it. Something as simple and basic as that brought us such happiness and relief. She was only able to purchase one pack, but it should carry us over for a little while, hopefully until the shopping frenzy is over.

The other simple pleasures we have found are the friendly smiles, the new friendships, and the coming together of friends and strangers alike. Churches are stepping up and providing for the needs of those who can’t get out or obtain the supplies they so desperately need. People usually rise to the occasion in times like this. We see the best and worst in society… but mostly the best by far!

The mission field is out there waiting for you… and you don’t have to expose yourself to the virus to do it. There are many ways to use technology, such as social media and video chat, or even phone calls, to lift someone’s heart. Let others know you care about them and are thinking about them. See if there are ways you can help meet their needs, whether it’s physical, spiritual, or emotional. Share God’s Word and testimonies of good stories that you’ve heard. It’s the simple pleasures that mean a lot!

1 Corinthians 13:7 (NLT) - “Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
