This is normally the time I am out for my daily walk. I use my walks to pray and seek the Lord for a topic for this blog. Last night I was aware of the thunderstorm activity hovering above us and I could see flashes of lightning and hear the thunder booming. I’m sitting here now and looking out the window and observing the continuing thunderstorm activity. I’m dedicated to my exercise routine but I’m not about to go walking in the rain amidst the lightning bolts and claps of thunder.
I have a healthy respect for the power and strength of a summertime thunderstorm. It’s actually a beautiful thing to watch from the safety of the house. Weather is something that we cannot control and we have to either wait it out or step out and brave the elements. We are at its mercy.
Only God can calm a storm or still the raging seas. He formed the heavens and the earth by His spoken word. He set everything in motion by His will. Nothing matches the power and might of our Creator. Even the powerful thunderstorms I am watching are no match for Him. Yet even in the midst of the storm He reminds me of His great love for me.
Psalms 29:1 (NLT) - “Honor the Lord, you heavenly beings; honor the Lord for his glory and strength.”
