Today would be my mother’s 88th birthday. I would, of course, find some loving way to tease her about that. We loved to tell her that she is a day older than our country. I miss her a lot, especially on certain occasions like this. I know she would’ve really enjoyed celebrating it here at the lake house with so much of her family in one spot.
I saw a beautiful cardinal, one of her favorite birds, eating out of the bird feeder. So many things trigger the wonderful memories I hold of her. She loved the simple things in life, such as the natural beauty of God’s creation. I can only imagine the beauty she is witnessing in heaven now!
Today is another beautiful day on the lake and I’m thankful that God granted us more nice weather in spite of forecasted storms. My mother must have been interceding on our behalf again. Happy birthday, Mom!
Ephesians 6:2-3 (NLT) - “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”
