It hasn’t always been perfect, but it has always been easy! That’s what I would say, with great boldness, about my marriage. She has always been the perfect woman for me, but neither of us are perfect. That would be impossible. We have had ups and downs, disagreements, and even arguments, but nothing even close to a major breakdown of our marriage. It really has always been easy.
We set some ground rules early on in our relationship and we have followed them for well over 40 years now. We never let the sun go down on our anger, we don’t scream and yell, we don’t make personal attacks, we never get physical, and we never ever say the “D” word. We say “I love you” a lot… and mean it! We hold hands and are not afraid to show affection towards one another in loving, and appropriate ways, when others are around. We often let each other know how much we love and appreciate each other.
These are all simple things that, when they become habits, make a marriage easy. When the bumps in the road come along, they will only be bumps… not roadblocks or detours. Keep your relationship centered on Christ and seek Him together. His peace will rule and reign in your marriage and it will be easy!
